How to Clean a Candle Jar

Cleaning a candle jar is a straightforward process. Here are the steps you can follow:

Materials Needed

  • Hot water
  • Dish soap
  • Scraper or butter knife
  • Cotton balls or paper towels
  • Rubbing alcohol (optional)

Steps to Clean the Jar

  1. Let the Candle Cool: If the candle is still warm, allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
  2. Remove Excess Wax: Use a scraper or butter knife to remove any remaining wax from the jar gently. Be careful not to scratch the glass.
  3. Soak the Jar: Fill the jar with hot water and add a few drops of dish soap. Let it soak for about 15-30 minutes.
  4. Clean the Inside: After soaking, use a cotton ball or paper towel to wipe out the inside of the jar. For stubborn residue, you can use a scraper.
  5. Rinse Thoroughly: Rinse the jar with warm water to remove any soap and wax residue.
  6. Disinfect (Optional): If desired, wipe the inside of the jar with rubbing alcohol to disinfect it.
  7. Dry the Jar: Allow the jar to air dry completely before using it again or storing it.

Tips

  • For stubborn wax, you can place the jar in the freezer for a few hours, as the wax will contract and may pop out more easily.
  • Always handle glass jars with care to avoid breakage.
